History

Pakistan Army is the land-based service branch of the Pakistan Armed Forces. Eligibility Criteria 

The Pakistan Army offers a range of career opportunities for young men and women who wish to serve their country. There are two main categories of positions in the army: soldiers and officers. The eligibility criteria for each category are as follows:

Soldiers:

  1. Age: 17 to 23 years
  2. Marital Status: Unmarried
  3. Education: Matriculation or equivalent
  4. Height: Minimum 5 feet 6 inches (167.5 cm) for males and 5 feet 2 inches (157.5 cm) for females
  5. Weight: As per body mass index (BMI)
  6. Nationality: Pakistani citizens
  7. Physical Fitness: Candidates must pass a physical fitness test

Officers:

PMA:
  1. Age: 17 to 22 years (on 1st May of the year of admission)
  2. Marital Status: Unmarried
  3. Education: Intermediate or equivalent with at least 60% marks or Bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks
  4. Physical Fitness: Candidates must pass a physical fitness test
  5. Nationality: Pakistani citizens
TCC:
  1. Age: 17 to 21 years (on 1st September of the year of admission)
  2. Marital Status: Unmarried
  3. Education: FSc (Pre-Engineering) with at least 65% marks or A-Level with at least 60% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry
  4. Physical Fitness: Candidates must pass a physical fitness test
  5. Nationality: Pakistani citizens
Direct Short Commission Course
  1. Age: 17 to 28 years (for Regular Commission) and 17 to 35 years (for Short Service Commission)
  2. Marital Status: Unmarried (for Regular Commission) and Married/Unmarried (for Short Service Commission)
  3. Education: Graduation or equivalent (for Short Service Commission)
  4. Height: Minimum 5 feet 4 inches (162.5 cm) for males and 5 feet (152.4 cm) for females
  5. Weight: As per body mass index (BMI)
  6. Nationality: Pakistani citizens
  7. Physical Fitness: Candidates must pass a physical fitness test

Test Procedure

Soldiers:
  1. Written Test: The written test includes multiple-choice questions on General Knowledge, English, Math, and IQ. The test is conducted at the recruitment center, and candidates must pass it to proceed to the next stage.
  2. Physical Fitness Test: The physical fitness test includes running, push-ups, sit-ups, and chin-ups. The minimum passing standards are set for each exercise, and candidates must meet these standards to proceed to the next stage.
  3. Medical Examination: Candidates who pass the physical fitness test undergo a medical examination to assess their physical fitness and health.
  4. Interview: Candidates who pass the medical examination are called for an interview with a recruitment board. The board assesses the candidate’s communication skills, confidence, and motivation to join the army.
Officers:
  1. Written Test: The written test includes multiple-choice questions on General Knowledge, English, Math, and IQ. The test is conducted at the Army Selection and Recruitment Centers (AS&RCs), and candidates must pass it to proceed to the next stage.
  2. Preliminary Medical Test: Candidates who pass the written test undergo a preliminary medical test to assess their physical fitness and health.
  3. Physical Tests: The physical tests include running, push-ups, sit-ups, and chin-ups. The minimum passing standards are set for each exercise, and candidates must meet these standards to proceed to the next stage.
  4. ISSB Test: The Inter-Services Selection Board (ISSB) test is a comprehensive evaluation of the candidate’s physical fitness, intelligence, leadership qualities, and communication skills. The ISSB test includes a variety of tasks, including group discussions, individual presentations, and physical activities.
  5. Final Medical Examination: Candidates who pass the ISSB test undergo a final medical examination to assess their physical fitness and health.
  6. Interview: Candidates who pass the final medical examination are called for an interview with a selection board. The board assesses the candidate’s communication skills, confidence, and motivation to join the army.
